On Saturday afternoon, Atletico and Real Madrid meet at the Wanda Metropolitano in a potentially crucial Madrid derby in La Liga.

Atletico Madrid are currently second place in La Liga, six points behind league leaders Barcelona and two points ahead of the visitors in the table.

A shock 1-0 defeat against Real Betis ended an 18-game unbeaten record in the league for Diego Simeone’s team, who had also won their previous three La Liga games while keeping clean sheets in all three wins.

Atletico Madrid’s recent La Liga games have been low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last ten matches, including four of their last five outings.

Los Rojiblancos are undefeated in 12 La Liga outings at the Wanda, having recorded wins in their last four matches on home soil. The home sides four straight home wins have been obtained without conceding a goal.

Real Madrid’s form has improved of late in La Liga, as the visitors have recorded four straight wins in the Spanish top-flight. Last time out, Santiago Solari’s side swept aside Alaves 3-0 at the Bernabeu.

The visitors have been prolific in front of goal of late in La Liga, scoring at least two goals in five of their last six matches, including their last outings.

Los Blancos’ away form has also improved of late in La Liga, as the visitors are unbeaten in four league games on their travels while picking up ten points from a possible 12. The visitor’s recent away matches in the top-flight have been high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in six of their last seven away games.

The last four meetings between these two teams have finished in draws. However, Forebet predicts that Atletico will come out on top in a high scoring encounter.
