Silva Under Pressure as Everton Travel to Watford

Things do not get any easier for Everton and Marco Silva and the Toffees are back in action on Saturday as they travel to Vicarage Road to take on Watford.

Watford start the weekend in 8th place and have 34 points to their name.  the Hornets cannot move any higher in the table with a win but could extend their lead on those below them. One of those teams below them is Everton and they have 33 points.  A win for Everton would move them above Watford in the table.

Watford picked up a point in their previous Premier League game which was at Brighton last weekend.  It was a decent point for Watford who did little to threaten the home goal but the draw means they have lost just one of their eight games in all competitions.

The defeat came at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley in the Premier League and form shows Watford have been drawing more games than winning.  In fact, Watford have picked up four draws in their last six Premier League matches, two of which have come in their last two home league games.

Trends show Watford have won one of their last six home Premier League matches and have kept only one clean sheet in the process.  They have also scored one or fewer goals in four of their last five at home in the league.

Everton travel south having lost their mid-week game against Manchester City, which was brought forward due to Manchester City’s appearance in the League Cup final. The defeat did not come as a shock and trends show Everton have lost four of their last five games, picking up just a single win at home against Huddersfield Town in the Premier League.

Everton have lost five of their last seven games in the Premier League and two of those five losses have come away from home at Brighton and Hove Albion and Southampton.  If anything, Everton’s away form has been a little better than their home in recent weeks and they have won twice in their last four on the road with wins coming at Burnley and Huddersfield Town.

Trends show Everton have scored a total of 2 goals in their last three away matches.

Team news and Watford are definitely without Isaac Success, Roberto Pereyra, Sebastian Prodl and Kiko Femenia who are injured plus there are doubts over Abdoulaye Doucoure, who has been struggling with a knee problem.

Everton are without Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines due to injury, while Yerry Mina is a doubt.  Seamus Coleman, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison are all expected to start.

Watford have not been easy to beat of late but they have not been able to pick up many wins.  Everton have been in poor form but appear to be playing better away from home and that means the points could be shared.
