Rangers set for a vital win at Aberdeen

On Wednesday night, Aberdeen host Rangers at Pittodrie in a game that could be vital in the race for the European spots in the SPL.

Aberdeen are third in the SPL table, two points behind the second place visitors and eight points behind league leaders and champions Celtic.

The Dons have been in good form of late, as they are unbeaten in four SPL games, having won on three occasions. Last time out the home side recorded a 2-1 win at Hibernian. The result means that Aberdeen have scored at least two goals in eight of their last nine league matches.

Aberdeen have a mixed recent home record in the SPL. However, the Dons have recorded wins in seven of their last ten outings at Pittodrie. The home side has been prolific on home soil in the league of late, scoring at least two goals in four of their last five home matches.

Rangers FC have emerged as genuine challengers to arch-rivals Celtic this season. The Gers are currently six points behind the reigning champions.

Steven Gerrard’s team have won three of their last four league outings, including last time out when they recorded a 4-0 win over St. Mirren. The victory over St. Mirren means that the visitors have scored at least two goals in three of their last four league games.

Rangers have an inconsistent recent away record in the SPL, but they have won five of their last eight away games, losing just once in the process. Their recent away games in the league have been relatively high scoring, as their last three away matches have produced over 2.5 goals.

The fact that Rangers have scored two or more goals in five of their last eight away games in the SPL has been a big factor in the high scoring games.

Forebet predicts that Rangers will record a victory in a low scoring match to stay in second in the SPL table.
