It has been six of the best for Manchester United under Ole Gunnar Solksjaer as the Norwegian’s perfect start to life as caretaker manager continues. This weekend he will look to make it lucky number seven when Brighton make the visit to Old Trafford.

The longer this winning streak continues then it will only strengthen Solksjaer’s case for being named as the permanent successor to Jose Mourinho come the end of the season and he would have done his hopes no harm at all after events last weekend.

The sixth win in this streak came away at Wembley as the Red Devils got the better of Tottenham, Marcus Rashford will go down in the history books as the match winner but that in fairness only tells half of the story.

That’s because the plaudits will undoubtedly go to their goalkeeper David De Gea. With Tottenham in search of a second half equaliser, they threw just about everything they had at the former Atletico Madrid player.

He made save after save as United held on for the win, one that takes them level on points with Arsenal and with the Gunners facing Chelsea later the same day, there is every chance that the club could move up to fifth by the end of the evening.

Not only that but now Manchester United will have an ever growing air of confidence about them, so much so that there will be belief within the camp that they can still make up the ground on Chelsea and finish in the top four come May.

That means an ideal result for them at the Emirates would be a draw but regardless of what happens in North London on Saturday evening, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer will be focussing on the Brighton shaped task that awaits them.

Chris Hughton’s men are currently 13th in the Premier League table and have just enough daylight between themselves and the drop zone at present, this means that they are not necessarily looking over their shoulders at the moment.

At the same time, they cannot afford to think that the job is done in terms of survival as there are still four months of the season left to play. Something that suggests that they are going to need to keep picking up points along the way.

They played host to league leaders Liverpool last weekend and were unfortunate to be bested by a second half Mohamed Salah penalty, as Jurgen Klopp’s men returned to winning ways at The AMEX Stadium.

That defeat for Brighton meant that they have only won once in their last six matches, a streak that is unlikely to be improved this weekend as they go up against the form team in the Premier League right now.

This Untied side now have their tails up and will be confident of knocking anyone out of their way. Brighton have picked the wrong time to play them, as all signs point to a comfortable home win at Old Trafford.
