Nimes and Nantes set for an entertaining draw

On Wednesday evening, Nimes host fellow mid-table Ligue One outfit Nantes, as both sides look to move closer to the top half of the table than the relegation zone.

There is very little between Nantes in 11th and the 12th place visitors in the table. In fact, only Nantes’ superior goal difference has them above Nimes in the French top-flight. However, both teams are just six points clear of the relegation play-off spot.

Nîmes form has dipped of late, as the home side has lost their last two Ligue One games against Lille and last time out Rennes, conceding seven goals in the process.

Nimes recent Ligue One games have been high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in their last four outings. The fact that the home side has scored at least two goals in three of their last four matches has contributed to those high scoring games.

Nimes have a poor recent home record in Ligue One, winning just one of their last seven games on home soil. In fact, they have won just two of their eight home games ever in the French top-flight.

Nantes have been highly inconsistent of late, winning just twice in their last seven league matches. Last time out in Ligue One, they suffered a 1-0 home defeat against Rennes.

Unlike the home side, Nantes recent Ligue One games have been relatively low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in five of their last seven games.

The visitors have won just one of their last seven away matches in Ligue One while suffering two straight away defeats at Saint-Etienne and PSG. One of the main causes of Nantes poor away record is a lack of goals, as they have scored just four times in their last seven matches on their travels in the league.

There is very little to separate these two teams, so it is unsurprising that Forebet predicts that this game will finish in a high scoring draw.
