Thierry Henry’s Monaco are in deep trouble and currently sit 19th in Ligue 1. The French club, who finished second last term, is four points from safety. Since Henry was appointed manager for Leonardo Jardim on October 13th, the Arsenal legend has only picked up eight points from 30 possible.

Jardim had picked up just seven points before Henry’s appointment. Since taking charge, Henry has favoured youth in his team and several players have been brought into the first-team from Monaco’s academy. Due to the youth being brought through, Monaco dipped into the transfer market to sign Henry’s former teammate Cesc Fabregas from Chelsea.

Nice, on the other hand, have righted the ship under the management of Patrick Vieira after a slow start. Nice are undefeated in eight of their last nine Ligue 1 matches. The club has won five of those fixtures. Nice have kept seven clean sheets in during their eight-match undefeated streak. Vieira has turned Nice into a very difficult team to score against and they are just four points off of a Champions League place.

Monaco go into the midweek fixture having the worst home points total in Ligue 1. The club has obtained just three points from a possible 27. Henry has watched his team lose its last three league home games. Monaco were outscored 8-1 during those three losses. They have posted the worst home goal difference in Ligue 1 at –10.

Nice have been difficult to defeat away from home. The south coast club has posted the fifth best away points total in Ligue 1 with 15 from a possible 27 obtained. Away fixtures with Nice haven’t seen many goals as they have tallied just seven and conceded six on their travels. Nice are winless in their last two away games against Guingamp and Strasbourg. Nice have failed to score in both games.

The two French clubs have not met this season as the original match between them in December was postponed due to national protests. Nice are undefeated against Monaco in their last two Ligue 1 games. However, Monaco have registered three wins in their last six meetings with Nice.

Their last five matches in all competitions have ended with more than 2.5 goals. Despite the high goal scoring in their last five meetings, Nice’s matches this season under the defensive Vieira have been low scoring. Nice’s last 11 Ligue games have had fewer than 2.5 goals scored.

Nice go into the fixture in-form while Monaco are struggling mightily. Monaco have conceded at least two goals in each of their last five league matches and they will allow goals once more. Nice will pick up the win on Wednesday night and Monaco will once again be held scoreless at home.
