On Wednesday night, Benfica visits Portimonense in the Primeira Liga, as the visitors look to gain ground on leaders Porto at the top of the table.
Portimonense have made a solid start to their Primeira Liga campaign. Currently sitting in ninth place, the Portimao-based team could finish the current round of games in the top six if results go their way.
The home side has found some form of late, winning three of their last four matches in the Portuguese top-flight. Last time out, they recorded a 1-0 win at Feirense. The game was a rare low scoring game of late for the home side, as their previous three league games had produced over 2.5 goals.
Portimonense are unbeaten in their last six league games at Estadio Municipal de Portimao, recording four wins in the process. They have also been prolific in recent home league games, scoring at least twice in five of their last six matches.
Benfica are currently second place in the Primeira Liga table, trailing league leaders Porto by four points.
The Eagles have won their last five league games and last time out hammered Sporting Braga 6-2 at the Estadio da Luz.
The visitor’s recent games have been relatively high scoring in the Primeira Liga, with over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last six league matches.
Benfica have a strong recent away record in the Portuguese top-flight, losing just once in their last 21 games on their travels. The Eagles have also won their last three home matches in the Primeira Liga.
The visitors have only failed to score in two of their last 17 away games in the Primeira Liga. The Eagles have also scored at least twice in 12 of their last 17 matches.
Portimonense look unlikely to be easy opponents, but Forebet predicts that Benfica will record a comfortable victory in a high scoring clash.
