In-form Leicester Search for Third Successive Win

There is so much at stake in the Premier League this season, with both the European qualifying places and relegation among the things to be decided.  Two teams involved in that meet at the King Power Stadium on Saturday as Leicester City host Cardiff City.

This marks the start of the second half of the Premier League season and Leicester City will be hoping they can make a move on the top six.  The Foxes are some way off at this stage but if they can win this game the pressure could be on.

Cardiff City have one thought on their mind and that’s the relegation zone.  A win or point would be a big result for the Bluebirds in their battle against the drop.

Leicester City recorded a fantastic 2-1 win over defending champions Manchester City on Boxing Day. Having fallen 1-0 behind early in the game, Leicester fought back well to secure maximum points.

It was the second big result in a week for Claude Puel’s team having also defeated Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.  Having gone three games without a win in the Premier League, both results show a remarkable return to form for the Foxes having previously been held by Fulham and defeated by Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace.

Trends show Leicester City have been tough to beat at home recently and have lost only one of their last five league games.  However, they have failed to score a goal in two of their last four at home.

Cardiff City picked up a very good point in a 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace on Boxing Day. The Eagles were flying having defeated Manchester City but the Bluebirds brought them back down to earth with a good defensive display.

It was a much needed boost for Neil Warnock’s team following their heavy 5-1 loss at home to Manchester United in their previous game and means they have picked up 10 points in their last eight games.

However, Cardiff City struggle when asked to play away from home and they have yet to win a match on the road in the Premier League this season.  The draw at Crystal Palace in their last game was only the second point they have won in away league games this season.

Trends show Cardiff have kept two clean sheets in their last sixteen Premier League matches.

Team news and Leicester are still without Daniel Amartey who is recovering from a broken ankle.  Every other player is fit and available for Claude Puel.

Cardiff City are waiting for news on the fitness of Daniel Ward and Jazz Richards who are being monitored daily.  It will be interesting to see if Callum Paterson returns to the squad having missed out at Crystal Palace.

Leicester City are in great form and it would be a surprise if Cardiff City manage to keep a clean sheet and come away with anything from this game.
