Porto set for victory over Galatasaray

On Tuesday evening, Galatasaray host Porto in Group D of the Champions League, as the home side attempt to hold on to third spot and a place in the Europa League.
Galatasaray are currently third in the group, having endured a poor campaign in Europe’s elite competition, picking up just four points from their five group games. The Turkish side has failed to win in their last four games in the Champions League, suffering three defeats in the process.
In fact, the home side has won just one of their last eight games in Europe’s elite competition. The Turkish side’s recent games in this competition have been low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in six of their last seven games.
Gala are actually four games unbeaten on home soil in the Champions League, having recorded two wins and two draws. However, they have also recorded just two wins in their last nine home games in Europe’s elite competition.
Galatasaray needs to equal or better Lokomotiv Moscow’s result against Schalke to finish in third place and drop down into the Europa League.
Porto have already qualified for the knockout stages and won the group. The Portuguese team have recorded fourth straight victories in the Champions League while scoring at least three goals in their last three European outings.
Their attacking prowess has contributed to their last three games in this competition producing over 3.5 goals.
Porto are unbeaten in four games on their travels in the Champions League, but three of those matches have finished all square. Their recent away games in Europe have not been that high scoring, but both teams have scored in four of their last five matches.
Forebet predicts that Porto will record a victory in a low scoring game to put Galatasaray’s chances of Europa League football in the New Year in doubt.
