Atletico to win Group A with a win in Brugge

On Tuesday night, Club Brugge host Atletico Madrid in Group A of the Champions League, as the visitors look to seal top spot in the group.
Club Brugge are out of the running for qualification for the next round. However, the Belgian side were always outsiders to make the knockout rounds from a tough group. The home side has however sealed third spot, which means Europa League football for them in the New Year.
Club Brugge are unbeaten in their last three games in Europe’s elite competition, having recorded a win and two draws from their last three outings in the competition. However, the home side have also won just once in 15 games in the Champions League.
The Belgian side has won just one of their last ten home games in this competition while suffering five defeats in their last seven outings on home soil. Club Brugge have also conceded at least two goals in five of their last seven home games in the Champions League.
A win for Atletico Madrid would send them through to the knockout stage as group winners. A draw could also be enough depending on Dortmund’s result against Monaco.
Diego Simeone’s team have recorded four wins from their five group games, with their only blip a 4-0 defeat at Dortmund in gameweek three.
Atletico have been prolific of late in the Champions League, scoring at least twice in four of their last five European games.
Despite a relatively good recent record in the Champions League, the visitors have won just one of their last seven away games in the competition. Atletico have also failed to score in four of their last six games on their travels in Europe’s elite competition.
