There are many great games to look forward to in the Premier League this weekend, with some involving teams from the bottom half of the table.  The way things are shaping-up, any team from 12th downwards in the Premier League could be relegated this season and that includes Newcastle United and West Ham United who meet at St James’ Park this weekend.

Newcastle begin the fixture sitting in 13th place and that will not change regardless of the result in the game on Friday night.  West Ham are one place below them in the table, with the same number of points (12) but a worse goal difference.  The winner could move above Brighton and Hove Albion into 12th place.

Last week saw another positive result for Newcastle as they defeated Burnley 2-1 away from home.  That was their third successive win in the Premier League and the club appear to have turned a corner this season.

Newcastle United have recorded wins over Watford, Bournemouth and Burnley and they are their only three league wins to date.

Trends show Newcastle will hope to continue their recent home form which has seen them win their last two Premier League matches.  However, they are their only two wins from their seven home league games this season, with the other five ending in defeat.

Newcastle have kept just one clean sheet at home this season.

West Ham suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City last weekend.  While they were not expected to take anything from the game, the Hammers were distinctly second best and will want to improve on Saturday.

Trends show West Ham have won only one of their last seven matches in all competitions. The victory was a 4-2 home win against Burnley in the Premier League and Newcastle are sure to put up a tougher fight than the Clarets.

West Ham have won one of their last six away Premier League matches this season and trends show they have been struggling on the road for some time, winning just four of their last twenty-five away Premier League games.

The Hammers have seen under 2.5 goals in their last three away matches and have yet to keep a clean sheet in an away Premier League game this season.

Team news and Newcastle are without Florian Lejeune and Karl Darlow who are both injured.  Paul Dummett, Jamaal Lascelles and Yoshinori Muto have been struggling but should make the game.

West Ham have several players missing with Winston Reid, Manuel Lanzini, Carlos Sanchez, Andriy Yarmolenko and Ryan Fredericks among them.  Marko Arnautovic and Jack Wilshere are rated as doubtful.

Having won their last three games, Newcastle will fancy their chances of picking up maximum points against a West Ham team who have been struggling.  Newcastle to win and under 2.5 goals is a possibility.
