Boro set to end Preston’s recent good run

Boro set to end Preston’s recent good run

On Tuesday night, Preston North End host Middlesbrough in the Championship, as both teams look to protect unbeaten runs in the second tier.

Preston are now unbeaten in eight games in the second tier this season after a poor start to their campaign. However, four of those eight unbeaten games have finished in draws, so the run has done little to move North End away from the relegation zone.

Last time out, the home side recorded a comfortable 4-1 win over Blackburn Rovers in a Lancashire derby clash. The game differed from North End’s recent league outings, as their three previous games had produced under 2.5 goals.

Preston have been strong at Deepdale of late in the Championship, winning three of their last four games and remaining unbeaten in the process. Alex Neill’s side have been prolific on home soil of late in the second tier scoring at least twice in seven of their last eight home games.

Middlesbrough are currently second in the Championship table, two points behind league leaders Norwich.

Boro are on a six-game unbeaten run in the second tier, consisting of three draws and three wins. The north east side recorded a 2-1 victory at Brentford last time out.

The visitor’s recent Championship games have been tight and low scoring affairs, with under 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five league outings.

Boro are unbeaten in five away games in the Championship. In fact, they have lost just one of their last 12 league games on their travels. Their recent away games in the second tier have been low scoring, with six of their last eight matches on their travels producing under 2.5 goals.

Forebet predicts that Boro will maintain their unbeaten run in the Championship by recording a victory in a high scoring encounter.
