Brighton Hope to Recover from Back-to-Back Defeats

The English Premier League resumes this weekend and the action begins on Saturday afternoon with several fixtures.  One of the most intriguing games comes at the American Express Community Stadium as Brighton and Hove Albion host Leicester City.

Brighton begin the weekend sitting in the bottom half of the table on 14 points from twelve games played.  A win would take them level with Leicester who are in 10th place but Brighton would need to win by a large margin to move above the Foxes.

The first thing on the mind of the Brighton players will be to recover from back-to-back defeats in their previous two Premier League games.  Both matches were played away from home and Brighton lost 3-1 at Everton and 2-1 at Cardiff City.

The latter of those two results was the most disappointing, especially as Brighton took the lead early in the game.  Having had a man sent off, Brighton could not hold on and conceded two goals to lose the match.

However, trends show Brighton have been tough to beat at home in the Premier League and they have lost just one of their last eight matches on home soil. This season there have been wins over Manchester United, West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.  Brighton have kept a clean sheet in each of their last two home league games but have only managed to score a single goal themselves in both matches.

Leicester City travel to the south coast having been held by Burnley to a 0-0 draw in their previous Premier League match.  It has been a tough period for the club following the tragic events after the West Ham game but the management and players have done themselves proud, winning one and drawing one of their last two league games.

The win came at Cardiff City and a single goal was enough to seal all 3 points.

Leicester City are undefeated in their last three Premier League games but goals have been at a premium. The Foxes have conceded only 1 goal throughout those three games but have found the back of the net only twice themselves.

Trends show Leicester City have won three of their last five away Premier League games, defeating Southampton, Newcastle United and Cardiff City.  Leicester City have scored in each of their six away league matches this season.

Team news and Brighton will be without the suspended Dale Stephens following his sending off at Cardiff City.  Jürgen Locadia should be available following illness but David Button, Alireza Jahanbakhsh, Pascal Groß and Davy Pröpper remain doubtful.

Leicester City have doubts over James Maddison and Harry Maguire as both pulled out of the England squad recently.  Daniel Amartey and Matty James will definitely miss the game while Kelechi Iheanacho and Rachid Ghezzal are pushing for a place in the starting XI.

Brighton may have suffered defeat in their last two games but both were away from home.  At home, the Seagulls are a different proposition and if Leicester are without both Maddison and Maguire, we could see a low scoring home win.
