Atletico Mineiro and Bahia set for a close encounter

On Saturday night, Atletico Mineiro and Bahia go head-to-head in the Brazilian Serie A, as the home side attempt to solidify their presence in the top-six.

Atletico Mineiro currently occupy sixth place in the Serie A table and the last automatic qualification spot for the next season’s Copa Libertadores. However, the home side are just a point clear of seventh place Cruzeiro and three points clear of eighth place Atletico PR.

A recent poor run of form has hampered their chances of staying in the league’s top six, as the team from Belo Horizonte has won just one of their last seven Serie A games.

However, that solitary league win came in their last league outing, as they recorded a 1-0 home win against Parana. The game followed a familiar trend for Atletico games of late in the league, as it was low scoring. In fact, six of their last seven Serie A games have produced under 2.5 goals.

The home side has a decent recent record on home soil, as they have lost just once in their last eight games. However, they have failed to win in the last three, drawing twice and suffering one defeat.

Bahia head into this game on the back of a relatively good run of form in Serie A. The visitors have lost just one of their last eight outings while winning four of their last six.

A 2-1 home win over Ceara last time out means that they are currently tenth place in the Serie A table, six points behind the home side. Their current league position would mean a place in the Copa Sudamericana for next season.

Despite their decent recent form, Bahia have a poor away record in Serie A, winning just once in seven outings. Conceding goals has been a major problem for the visitors on their travels of late, as they have conceded at least twice in four their last five away games in the league.

There is very little between these teams, so there is no surprise that Forebet predicts that this game will finish in a low scoring draw.
