AC Milan host Serie A rivals Genoa at the San Siro on Wednesday night. The Rossoneri go into the fixture having won three of their last four matches in the league. Their only blemish was a 1-0 derby loss to Inter Milan two weeks ago. Milan defeated Sampdoria 3-2 at the weekend, which took them to fifth in the Serie A table. A win against Genoa will push them into the top four on goal difference.

Genoa, on the other hand, sit midtable and could find themselves either fighting for European qualification or relegation by the turn of the year. Manager Ivan Juric is yet to pick up a win since taking over Genoa on October 9th.

Genoa owner Enrico Preziosi pulled the trigger on experienced manager Davide Balladrini after a 3-1 loss to Parma and hired former manager Juric as a replacement. Preziosi has been known for his quick trigger finger and lack of common sense when hiring and firing coaches. Juric has gained two points from six with draws against Juventus and Udinese, respectively.

The Grifone have tallied 15 goals this term with nine of them coming from 23-year-old striker Krzysztof Piatek. The goal machine was linked with every major club in Europe during the October international break, but since then, he hasn’t been able to find the back of the net. After scoring in five straight Serie A games, Piatek has gone 180 minutes without a goal.

Milan have not lost at the San Siro this season (when classified as the home team). The side has picked up 10 of 12 points at home in Serie A. Milan are +4 in goal difference when playing at home. Genoa haven’t travelled well and have collected just four points from 12. However, they are undefeated in their last two home matches.

Gennaro Gattuso’s Rossoneri are undefeated against Genoa in their last three meetings. Two of those matches have ended in Milan wins. Milan have kept a clean sheet in their last three matches against Genoa in Serie A. Only two goals have been scored in those three games and all of them by Milan. However, Wednesday’s game could be different. Both teams have strikers that can put the ball in the back of the net. Five of Milan’s last six matches in all competitions have seen three or more goals.

Striker Gonzalo Higuain leads Milan with five goals while winger Suso has three scores and seven assists. The duo has been deadly as Suso has assisted three of Higuain’s goals. It is the top assist-goal combination in Serie A.

Milan will solidify their position in Serie A’s top four on Wednesday. The Rossoneri will pick up all three points and continue Juric’s winless run as Genoa manager.
