Celta to hold Alaves in Vigo
On Friday night, Alaves will look to continue their good start to their campaign in the Spanish top-flight when they visit Celta Vigo.
After making a bright start to their La Liga campaign, Celta Vigo have now failed to win in their last five league games. Last time out in the Spanish top-flight Celta suffered a 2-1 defeat at league leaders Sevilla. Prior to the defeat in Andalucia, the home side had produced three consecutive draws in the league.
While Celta’s recent league outings have not been ultra-high scoring, both teams have scored in their last five La Liga matches.
Celta are unbeaten in 15 league outings at the Balaidos, although the home side do have a tendency to pick up draws on their home turf. In fact, nine of those 15 unbeaten home games have finished all square, including three of their last four home games.
Both teams have also scored in seven of their last eight home games in La Liga, despite the fact that five of their last seven home league games have produced under 2.5 goals.
Alaves have been one of La Liga surprise-packages this season, as the visitors are currently level on points with European champions Real Madrid.
The visitors good run looked in danger of fizzling out prior to a 1-0 home win over Los Blancos last time out. However, the win means that the visitors have now won four of their last six La Liga games.
Alaves’ recent away form in La Liga has been inconsistent, as the visitors have won two and lost three of their last five outings on their travels in the Spanish top-flight. Their recent away games in La Liga have been relatively high scoring, though, with over 2.5 goals scored in three of their last four games.
