Deportivo to continue promotion charge against Elche

Deportivo to continue promotion charge against Elche

On Friday night, Deportivo La Coruna host Elche in the Spanish Segunda, as the home side look to move into the automatic promotion spots.

Deportivo have made a mixed start to their Segunda campaign, although the home side has now suffered just one defeat in their last eight league outings. Last time out Depor drew 1-1 with Malaga at the Riazor.

Their recent Segunda games have not been overly high scoring, but six of their last nine league games have seen both teams score, including their last three outings.

Deportivo’s latest home form is encouraging, as they have won just once in their last 12 league games on home soil. However, only three of those 12 games were this season, with the rest of the games coming in their last spell in the second tier back in 2014.

Depor have won two of their three league games home games this season, though. Their latest home games in the Segunda have been low scoring, with under 2.5 goals in seven of their last nine games, but coming in two spells that may mean very little.

Elche have made a poor start to their Segunda campaign, picking up just eight points from as many games in the Spanish second tier. It is interesting to note that both teams have scored in Elche’s last four league outings.

The visitors are unbeaten in their last four Segunda games, but they have also won just once their last 17 matches. Last time out, the visitors recorded a 2-1 win over Lugo.

Elche have a poor recent away record in the Segunda, failing to win in their last nine games while suffering six defeats in the process. Their recent away games in the Segunda have not been high scoring, but both teams have scored in four of their last five matches.

Forebet predicts that Deportivo will record a victory to move into the automatic spots.
