Lille set to upset Marseille

On Sunday night, Lille host Marseille in the French Ligue One, as both teams look to consolidate their positions in the top four of the French top-flight.

Both teams have enjoyed decent starts to the campaign, with Marseille currently third –place and Lille fourth place in the table. Only goal difference separates the pair from second place Lyon.

Lille have won four of their seven Ligue 1 games this season. Last time out, the home side suffered a 1-0 defeat at Bordeaux to end a two-game winning run in the French top-flight for Christophe Galtier’s team.

Lille’s latest games in the French top-flight have been high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in 11 of their last 14 league outings.

The home side has a good recent home record in Ligue 1, recording wins in their last five home league games, while also scoring at least two goals in all five wins.

Marseille started their Ligue One campaign in a slightly sluggish manner. However, OM have now won three of their last four league games. The visitors have also scored at least two goals in their last five league matches. They have now scored in their last 13 games in the French top-flight.

OM’s attacking prowess has contributed to there being over 2.5 goals scored in their last ten Ligue One matches.

Marseille have struggled for wins on the road of late, picking up just one victory in their last five away games in the French top-flight, while both teams have scored in Marseille’s last eight games on their travels in Ligue 1.

OM have been difficult opponents of late for Lille, as the visitors have lost just one of the last 13 meetings with the home side.
