Middlesbrough to claim first league win of the campaign

On Tuesday night, Middlesbrough host Sheffield United at the Riverside Stadium, as both teams look for their first Championship wins of the new campaign.

The two failed to win on the opening weekend of the season, as Middlesbrough drew 2-2 with Millwall at the Den, while Sheffield United suffered a 2-1 opening day defeat against Swansea City.

The opening weekend draw means that Boro have now failed to win in their last four Championship outings, drawing three times and suffering one defeat. Boro’s recent games in the second tier have been low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five outings.

The north east side have a good recent home record in the Championship, having won seven of their last nine games in the second tier. Boro have also been prolific in those recent victories, scoring at least twice in all seven wins.

The home side has also managed to keep a clean sheet in their last three meetings with the visitors in the Championship on home soil.

The Blades head to the Riverside Stadium on the back of a highly disappointing defeat against Swansea. The defeat means that the Yorkshire side has now won only one of their last ten games in the Championship, while also losing three of their previous four games in the second tier.

The visitors latest league outings have not been that high scoring, but both teams have scored in eight of their last nine Championship games.

Chris Wilder’s side has been poor away from home of late in the second tier, winning just one of their last six games on their travels. The Blades recent games on the road have been high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in five of their last seven matches.

Forebet predicts that Middlesbrough will record a victory in a low scoring game to pick up their first league win of the campaign.
