Cork City to pick up a win over Shamrock Rovers

On Friday night Cork City host Shamrock Rovers at Turner’s Cross in the Irish Premier Division, as the home side look to keep pace with Dundalk.

Cork are two points behind their title rivals Dundalk after suffering a 2-1 defeat against the leaders last time out. The loss ended a seven-game winning run for the home side in the Premier Division.

A key to Cork’s recent good form has been their stellar defensive form of late, as they have kept six clean sheets in their last nine outings. John Caulfield’s side has also been prolific of late in the Premier League, scoring at least two goals in six of their last eight league games.

Cork has a formidable home record in the league, winning their last 12 Premier League games on home soil. City’s defensive solidity has contributed majorly to their recent good home results, as they have kept clean sheets in 11 of their last 13 league games on home soil.

Shamrock are currently fourth-place in the Premier League but are seven points away from third-place Waterford, who occupy the last European spot.

Stephen Bradley’s side has hit form of late, winning their last three league games without conceding a goal. In fact, the visitors have kept clean sheets in five of their previous seven league outings.

Last time out Rovers recorded a 2-0 win over Derry City. The result means that Shamrock have now scored at least two goals in their previous four league games.

The visitors have struggled for victories on their travels of late, as they have won just one of their last eight away games in the Premier League. However, that one win came in their last game on their travels against Limerick.

Forebet predicts that Cork will record a potentially vital win in a high-scoring encounter.
