Uruguay set for victory over Egypt

On Friday afternoon, Uruguay and Egypt clash in Ekaterinburg in Group A of the World Cup, as both sides look to start their campaign with a victory.
Egypt will play at their first World Cup since 1990 this summer, courtesy of a vital goal from Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, who is still a fitness doubt after sustaining a shoulder injury during the Champions League final defeat against Real Madrid.
In fact, World Cup 2018 will be only their third finals appearance at the World Cup. Their first ever finals appearance was way back in 1934 and the aforementioned Italia 90’ their only other appearance at the finals.
The North African team have not enjoyed the best preparations for Russia 2018, failing to win in their last six international outings, drawing three times and suffering three defeats.
The fact that that star player Salah may not recover in time for this clash has certainly cast a shadow over their preparations.
Uruguay has a big tradition in the World Cup, having lifted the trophy in 1930 and 20 years later in 1950. Success has been a little harder to come by for the South American nation in recent tournaments, though.
Their biggest achievement of late at the finals came in 2010 when they shocked the world by finishing fourth-place in South Africa. Last time out La Celeste made it to the last 16, only to suffer defeat against fellow South Americans Colombia.
Uruguay heads into this tournament in decent form after recording three straight wins over Czech Republic, Wales and Uzbekistan. In fact, Oscar Tabarez’s side has lost just one of their last nine internationals.
The South American side have also been strong at the back of late, keeping clean sheets in four of their last five games.
Forebet predicts that Uruguay will be too strong for the Pharaohs and record a victory in a high-scoring clash.
