Parana Clube Searching for First Win

The Brazilian Serie A action continues this week and on Tuesday night we have a meeting between Parana Clube and Fluminense at the Estádio Durival de Britto e Silva, Curitiba.

This is a huge match for the home team who start the game sitting bottom of the table.  They have just 3 points to show for their efforts this season, having played eight matches.  Parana Clube were promoted from Serie B last season and are finding life tough in the top division of Brazilian football.

Fluminense begin the match in 7th place on 14 points from eight games. This match gives them the opportunity to move into the top places and they could even move into first place, if other results go their way.

Parana Clube earned promotion by finishing 4th in Serie B last season. Despite earning promotion, they won only eighteen of their thirty-eight matches and this season, that number looks set to be even lower as they battle against the drop.

Trends show Parana Clube are yet to win a match in Brasilian Serie A, having played eight games.  They have picked up three draws which have come at home to Gremio and Atletico PR plus away to Chapecoense.

It has been far from the start they wanted this season and Parana Clube have been struggling to score goals.  In their eight matches they have managed only 3 goals, which is a very disappointing return.  They are the lowest scorers in the league and have failed to score in their last three Brasilian Serie A games.

Fluminense come onto this match having picked up a point in a 0-0 draw at Gremio last Thursday. That result means it is now three games unbeaten in Brasilian Serie A for Abel Braga’s team, who previously picked up wins at home against Atletico PR and Chapecoense.

Trends show Fluminense have lost only one of their last seven Brasilian Serie A matches and have won three of their last five.  However, wins have not been easy to find away from home and Fluminense have won one of their four away league games this season, which came at Vitoria at the beginning of May.

Fluminense have been defeated at Corinthians and Botafogo but have managed to score at least 1 goals in three of their four away matches.

Team news and Parana Clube will be without midfielder Jhonny Lucas and centre-back Neris who are both suspended.  They also have doubts over Richard, who has played two games in goal for Parana Clube this season.

Fluminense will be without the injured trio of Pedro, Ayrton Lucas and Marquinhos Calazans.  They also have doubts over Gum, Pablo Dyego and Marcos Junior.

Parana Clube have ground out 0-0 draws in their last two home matches but may struggle to keep another clean sheet in this game.  If they fail to find the back of the net, which they have done in recent matches, expect to see Fluminense come away with maximum points and a clean sheet.
