Real Betis set to seal European place against rivals Sevilla

On Saturday evening Real Betis and Sevilla go head-to-head in the Seville derby in La Liga, with European places at stake.

Real Betis are currently fifth-place in La Liga, five points clear of their seventh-place neighbours. Avoiding defeat in this clash would mean Quique Setien’s team claiming a European spot for next season.

The home side has enjoyed a fantastic campaign in Spain’s top-flight this season. However, Betis heads into this game on the back of a 2-0 defeat at Athletic Bilbao. The defeat ended an eight-game unbeaten run in La Liga for the Setien’s team, consisting of seven wins and a draw.

A feature of Betis’ games of late in La Liga is that they have been low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in six of their last seven league outings.

Setien’s team are also strong on home soil, having won their last four home games in the Spanish top-flight. They have also kept clean sheets in four of their last five games on home soil.

Sevilla have dragged themselves back into the race for European places with two straight league wins in La Liga, after a run of seven games without a win in the league.

That poor run of form saw Vincenzo Montella become the second boss of the season fired by the Andalusians. New boss Joaquin Caparros has overseen victories over Real Sociedad and Real Madrid.

Despite those recent wins, the visitors have still won just two of their last nine La Liga outings, which is a poor record by anybody’s standards.

The visitors form on their travels in La Liga has been poor of late, as they have lost three of their last four outings away from home.

Forebet predicts that the visitors will continue their poor away form in this clash with the home side recording a victory in a high scoring clash.
