Levante Look to Continue Sensational Form in La Liga

The relegation battle in La Liga has been decided and Malaga, Las Palmas and Deportivo La Coruna will be the teams heading down this season.

That leaves Levante and Leganes, who meet on Monday night, feeling relaxed about their position in the table, despite being down in 15th and 17th respectively.  Both teams are safe and can focus on winning their games ahead of next season.

Leganes start the match on 40 points, which leaves them 11 points clear of 18th place Deportivo La Coruna, who have just two matches left to play.  A win in this game could lift Leganes up one place in the table.

However, form has not been good and Leganes have won only one of their last six La Liga games and this has seen them slide down La Liga in recent weeks.  They have lost four of those six matches with defeats coming against Barcelona, Villarreal and Real Madrid away from home, all of which are tough fixtures.  They also lost to Valencia at home.

Trends show Leganes have kept a clean sheet in four of their last six home games and have seen under 2.5 goals in each of their last three at Estadio Municipal de Butarque.  They have tasted just one defeat in their last six on home soil and have defeated Malaga, Sevilla and Celta Vigo.

Levante have been in excellent form recently and trends show they have lost just one of their last nine league games. This is in stark contrast to their earlier form when they went eleven straight games without picking up a single win.

Levante have won each of their last three La Liga matches and five of their last seven.  However, only one of those wins came away from home and that was a 3-1 win at Athletic Club two weeks ago.

Away from home, Levante have struggled to pick up wins and have won two of their last ten La Liga games on the road.  Only once in those last ten matches have Levante managed to keep a clean sheet and that came in a 1-0 win at Getafe on the 10th March.

Interestingly, in the last three meetings between the two teams, they have all ended with under 2.5 goals scored.

Team news and Leganes are without Gabriel Pires who is suspended.  Alexander Szymanowski is injured plus Ezequiel Munoz and Omar Ramos are doubtful.  Claudio Beauvue is expected to start in attack.

Levante have a long list of injuries including Ivan Lopez, Raul Fernandez, Cheick Doukoure and Tono.  However, Jefferson Lerma returns from suspension and should start the match in midfield for the visitors.

Don’t expect to see many goals in this game and we could see a draw with under 2.5 goals scored.
