RB Leipzig to record victory at Mainz
RB Leipzig will be looking to get back to winning ways on Sunday, as they visit Mainz in the Bundesliga.
The home side are still very much in the Bundesliga relegation fight, only above 16th place Freiburg by virtue of a superior goal difference. Sandro Schwarz’s side are five points clear of the relegation zone.
A recent poor run of form in the Bundesliga has seen the home side pick up just one win in their last eight games in the German top-flight. Conceding goals has played a big part in Mainz’s poor campaign, as only two teams in the league have conceded more goals than the home side.
Mainz’s record in the Bundesliga at the OPEL Arena has not been great of late either, as they have won just two of their last eight league outings on home soil. Their recent home games in the German top-flight have been low scoring with six of their last seven games producing under 2.5 goals, including the last five games.
RB Leipzig have slipped out of the Bundesliga’s Champions League spots in recent weeks mainly due to a run of two defeats and a draw in their last three outings in the German top-flight. A run of just two wins in their last nine league outings has not helped their cause either.
Last time out, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team suffered a potentially crucial 5-2 home defeat against top-six rivals Hoffenheim. The defeat leaves the visitors four points off the top-four and just one point above seventh-place Eintracht Frankfurt in the fight for the European spots.
The visitor’s recent away form in the Bundesliga has not been great, as they have won just two of their last ten outings in the German top-flight on their travels.
However, Forebet predicts that the visitor’s away record will improve, with the men from Leipzig recording a victory in a high scoring encounter.
