Real Betis to strengthen top-six position in La Liga

Real Betis have been one of La Liga’s surprise-packages this season. The Sevilla-based outfit are currently fifth in the Spanish top-flight table.

A home win against doomed Las Palmas on Thursday night would aid their attempts at clinching a European spot this season.

Quique Setien’s side are four points clear of seventh-place city rivals Sevilla, who have played an extra game in the Spanish top-flight. Betis are also a point clear of sixth place Villarreal.

A big contributing factor to Betis’ current lofty position in La Liga is a five-game winning run in the Spanish top-flight. A 1-0 win at Girona last time out in La Liga also saw Setien’s team keep a fourth consecutive clean sheet in La Liga.

Considering the home sides recent good run of form, their recent home record is not great. However, they have won their last two league outings at the Villamarin, while also keeping clean sheets in their last three home outings.

Las Palmas have are not yet mathematically relegated, but are ten points away from safety with just six games to play.

A run of ten games without a win in La Liga has meant the Islanders have been cut adrift from safety. A 1-0 home defeat against Real Sociedad last time out means they have now suffered three straight defeats in La Liga.

One of the visitor’s main problems this season in La Liga has been scoring goals, as only bottom club Malaga have scored fewer than the Islanders 22 goals this season in La Liga.

Winning games on their travels has also proven difficult for Paco Jemez’s team, as they have failed to win in their last 14 games in La Liga on their travels.

Forebet predicts that Real Betis’ impressive recent winning run will continue, with the game producing under 2.5 goals.
