On Wednesday night, Roma host Genoa at the Stadio Olimpico, as the Giallorossi look to strengthen their bid for a Champions League place this season.

The Giallorossi are currently third in Serie A, level on points with arch-rivals Lazio and just a point above fifth-place Inter, who could leapfrog the pair with a victory over Cagliari on Monday night.

Eusebio Di Francesco’s side has failed to win in their last three Serie A outings, drawing twice and losing once. The Giallorossi’s recent games in the Italian top-flight have been low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in their last four league games.

Surprisingly, Roma have a poor recent home record in Serie A, having won just two of their last seven games on home soil in the Italian top-flight, while suffering four defeats in their last six home games in the league. The home side has also conceded at least two goals in four of their last six games on home soil in Serie A.

Genoa are currently 12th in Serie A, 11 points clear of the relegation zone and should have enough points to ensure that they are playing top-flight football next season.

A four-game unbeaten run in the Italian top-flight consisting of two wins and two draws has helped the visitors stay clear of the relegation zone. Last time out the visitors recorded a 1-0 win over struggling Crotone.

The game was just another low scoring Genoa game, as eight of their last nine Serie A games have produced under 2.5 goals.

Davide Ballardini’s side has struggled on their travels in Serie A, failing to win in their last three outings on the road, while also failing to score in all three of those winless games.

Champions League semi-finalists Roma need to win this clash to maintain their top-four chances. Forebet predicts that the Giallorossi will do just that by recording a narrow victory in a low scoring encounter.
