Doncaster and Bradford Meet in Crucial League One Clash

Doncaster and Bradford Meet in Crucial League One Clash

Despite the international break, there is plenty of club football taking place around the world this week, starting in the English League One on Monday night.

Doncaster Rovers meet Bradford City in a key match at the Keepmoat Stadium with the teams battling for different goals this season.  Doncaster Rovers start the game in 17th place, with 43 points from 36 games played.  This leaves them just 4 points clear of the relegation zone and a win in this match would be huge in terms of survival.

Bradford City on the other hand, are looking towards the top of League One and begin the match in 11th place, with 50 points from 35 games played. They are currently 7 points off the play-off places but with a couple of games in hand on the teams above them, a win here could still see them challenge for promotion.

Doncaster Rovers come into this match having been held to a 0-0 draw at Southend United last week.  That result means it is just one win in their last twelve games in all competitions and that win came at home to Fleetwood Town in League One, a team currently below them in the table.

However, trends show Doncaster Rovers have lost only one of their last nine home matches.  There have been four victories in those nine games and Doncaster Rovers have scored at least one in each of them.

Bradford City make the short trip to Doncaster having lost 1-0 at home to Wigan in their previous League One match. Wigan are going well near the top of the table this season but that defeat means Bradford City have failed to win any of their last ten games in all competitions.

There have been seven defeats in League One plus one loss in the FA Cup at home to Yeovil Town.  Bradford City were well in contention for the playoffs this season but if they continue in this bad run of form, they will slide further down the table.

Trends show Bradford City have won just one of their last seven away League One games.  They have lost four of the last five on the road, with three of those defeats coming against teams now sitting above them in the league.

Bradford City have failed to keep a clean sheet in their previous eight away League One games and have scored only three goals in their last five.

Team news and Alfie Beestin, Tom Anderson, and Andy Butler will all miss the game for Doncaster Rovers through injury but Andy Williams and Ben Khemis could make a return to the team.

Bradford City will be without Jake Reeves and Ryan McGowan who are injured plus striker Charlie Whyke, who is serving a suspension.  Omari Patrick and Alex Jones are returning to fitness and could play a part in the game.

Bradford City have been struggling to keep clean sheets away from home and travel to this game without their leading goal scorer.  Doncaster Rovers are not in great from themselves but have been scoring in their recent home games and could come away with a narrow win to nil.
