Dynamo Kyiv and Lazio put on a thrilling four-goal game in the clubs' Europa League last-16 first leg. The two sides should put on another excellent game in the second leg as they meet in Ukraine on Thursday night.
Dynamo came out of the first leg the happier of the two sides. The Ukrainians scored two away goals in Rome and take a slight edge into Thursday night's fixture. The good news for Lazio is an away goal will complete change the tie, and the Italians will take immediate control of the two-legged series.
Lazio hold their progression in the Europa League in the palm of their hand. A solid performance in Kyiv and an away goal can see them qualify for the last eight. However, a defensive lapse late in the match – like in the first leg – and the Italian team will be eliminated from the tournament.
Kyiv go into the second leg with an in-form Junior Moraes in front of goal. The Brazilian has tallied seven goals in the Europa League – second most in the competition. Moraes turned the tables on Lazio in the first leg. A 70th minute substitute, it took Moraes just nine minutes to find the back of the net. The Brazilian played just 62 minutes at the weekend against Veres Rivne, as Kyiv kept their hitman fresh for Thursday night.
Kyiv will be without midfielder Denys Garmash. The player will serve a suspension after being sent off in the first leg. Garmash has tallied two goals and six assists this term, and without him in the spine of the team, Lazio could be afforded more space to attack.
Lazio got star performances from players Ciro Immobile, Felipe Anderson and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in the first leg. All three had hands in the Lazio goals, but the team was letdown by its defence. Immobile has scored six goals in the Europa League, which is good for third most in the competition. The Italian is having another strong season on the peninsula and has tallied 24 goals in Serie A.
Lazio can get an early goal and make the game interesting, but the home advantige is on Dynamo Kyiv's side, so Forebet predicts a narrow win for the Ukrainians.
