Celta set to add to Las Palmas’ relegation worries

On Monday night, midtable Celta Vigo host relegation-threatened Las Palmas in La Liga, as the visitors look to move out of the relegation zone.

Celta Vigo are currently 11th place in La Liga. However, with many Spanish games on Sunday, the home side could drop down the table. If results go their way, though, Celta still have a chance of claiming a European spot this season.

A poor recent run of form has hampered their hopes of finishing in La Liga’s top-six, though, as Unzue’s side have won just one of their last five league games, suffering three defeats in the process.

Their last two games have been low scoring. However, their previous five La Liga outings had all produced over 2.5 goals.

Celta are unbeaten in four La Liga games on home soil, winning two and drawing two games. The home side have also scored at least two goals in all four of their last league outings on home soil.

Las Palmas are currently 18th place in the table but are level on points with 17th place Levante, who host Espanyol in Sunday’s early kick-off in La Liga.

The visitor's form has improved of late, as they have lost just one of the five outings in the Spanish top-flight. Unfortunately, for the Islanders, three of those five games have finished in draws, so the team from Gran Canaria are still in the drop zone.

Their recent La Liga games have been low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five league outings.

A 1-1 home draw with Barcelona last time out was a highly respectable result. The home side will be hoping to build on that excellent result with a win in Vigo.

However, Forebet predicts that the Islanders will leave Vigo empty-handed, with the visitors recording a victory in a low scoring encounter.
