On Saturday afternoon, Liverpool host West Ham at Anfield in a game that could have big implications at both ends of the table.

The home side are currently third in the Premier League table, but a win over the visitors would move them up to second, at least temporarily with second-place Manchester United playing on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have suffered just one defeat in their last 18 Premier League games. Last time out in the league, the Reds recorded a 2-0 win at relegation-threatened Southampton.

The result means that the Merseysiders have now scored two or more goals in nine of their last ten games in the Premier League. This has contributed to there being over 2.5 goals scored in eight of their last ten league outings.

The home side are unbeaten in 15 games on home soil in the Premier League while winning three of their last four games. The Reds have also scored two or more goals in their last four home games in the league.

West Ham have been slightly inconsistent of late in the Premier League. However, the Hammers have suffered just one defeat in their last eight league games. Last time out David Moyes side recorded a 2-0 home win over Watford.

The victory meant that the Irons moved up to 12th place in the table, four points clear of the relegation zone. However, if results go against them this weekend the visitors could be dragged back into the relegation dogfight.

West Ham’s recent away form in the Premier League has been inconsistent. However, the Irons have won just two of their last 14 away games in the top-flight. Their recent away games in the league have been high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in six of their last seven games on the road.

Forebet predicts that Liverpool will see off the threat of the Hammers and record a victory in a high scoring encounter.
