Saints to make it to the FA Cup fifth round

On Saturday afternoon, Southampton host Watford in the fourth round of the FA Cup, as two of the Premier Leagues strugglers go head-to-head.

The home side have recently dropped into the Premier League relegation zone after a terrible run of form. The Saints only win their last 12 outings in all competitions came in a 2-0 victory against Fulham in the last round of this competition.

The Saints recent home form has been poor, as they have won just one of their last seven games on home soil, failing to win in their last five home games. Their last six home games have seen both teams score.

One positive for Mauricio Pellegrino’s side is that they have lost just one of their last nine meetings with the Hornets in all competitions. The pressure is on the Argentinian boss to keep that record going.

Watford head into this clash on the back of sacking highly-rated boss Marco Silva. Javi Garcia has since replaced the Portuguese boss. The Spaniard takes over a team that has lost eight of their last 12 games in all competitions, winning just twice.

One of those two wins came in a 3-0 victory over Bristol City in the last round of this competition. The Hornets recent games have been high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in five of their last six games in all competitions.

A big contributing factor in the high scoring games has been that the Hornets have conceded at least two goals in four of their last five competitive games.

Watford’s away form has been poor, as the Hornets have lost seven of their last eight games on their travels, including their last five games on the road.

Both these teams head into this game in poor form. However, Forebet predicts that the home side will record a narrow victory and progress to the fifth round of the competition.
