Seagulls to get the better of the Eagles in the FA Cup

On Monday night, Brighton host Crystal Palace at the Amex Stadium in the third round of the FA Cup.

The two teams have a bitter rivalry and this clash could be a feisty one. It could also be interesting because of another aspect, as the game will be the first competitive game in England to use the VAR (video assistant referee) system.

The home side heads into this game having recorded just one win in their last 11 games in all competitions. The poor recent run of form has seemingly dragged Chris Hughton’s side into the relegation dogfight.

Scoring goals has been a major problem for the home side in recent weeks, as they have failed to score in five of their last seven games in all competitions.

Brighton have lost just one of their last 11 home games in all competitions. However, the problem the Seagulls have had of late is that they are drawing far too many home games. Hughton’s side have now drawn five of their last eight home games in all competitions.

Crystal Palace’s form has slowly but surely improved under experienced boss Roy Hodgson. The Eagles have now lost just once in their last 11 games in all competitions.

However, like Monday’s opponents, the Eagles have drawn too many games of late, drawing six of those 11 unbeaten games. Palace are unbeaten in their last five away games, but three of those games have finished all-square.

One positive for Palace is that they have lost just one of the last six meetings with the Seagulls in all competitions. The last meeting between these two teams back in December ended goalless at the Amex Stadium.

Forebet predicts that Brighton will record a narrow victory in a tight game and progress into the fourth round of the FA Cup.
