Primeira Liga leaders Porto face a tricky clash on Monday night, as they host fifth-place Maritimo at the Estadio Do Dragao.

Porto are currently top of the table, having started their league campaign with 11 wins and three draws. However, they are only ahead of second place Sporting courtesy of a superior goal difference.

Last time out last season’s runners-up won 5-0 at Vitoria Setubal after back-to-back draws against Desportivo Aves and Benfica.

The home side have been solid at the back in recent Primeira Liga games, keeping clean sheets in four of their last five league games, while conceding just once in the process.

Porto also have a very strong home record in the Portuguese top-flight, having gone unbeaten in 25 games at the Estadio Do Dragao. The home side have won seven of their last eight home league games, scoring two or more goals in all seven of the victories.

Porto have a good record against Maritimo, winning 23 of the last 34 meetings, with the visitors recording just four wins in the process.

Maritimo are currently fifth in the table and looking to make up ground on the teams in the European spots. Sergio Conceicao’s team are currently four points behind Braga, who are in fourth spot and in the last European berth.

The Funchal outfit are five games unbeaten in the Portuguese top-flight after a 1-0 home win over Braga last time out in the league. The visitor’s recent games in the league have been low scoring, though, with under 2.5 goals scored in their last five games in the Portuguese top-flight.

The Islanders have a poor recent away record, as they have won just two of their last 14 games on their travels in the Portuguese top-flight.

Forebet predicts that Porto will record a narrow victory in a low scoring encounter.
