Wolves to extend lead at the top of the Championship

Championship leaders Wolves can extend their lead at the top of the table to seven points when the Midlands side visit Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night.

Wednesday have struggled for results of late and the Owls are currently 15th in the Championship table. Carlos Carvalhal’s team have failed to win in five games in the second tier, drawing four games and losing once, suffering the defeat last time out in a 3-1 defeat against Norwich City.

The Yorkshire side have been involved in a number of high scoring in recent games, with five of their last seven Championship games producing 2.5 goals.

Wednesday have a mixed record at Hillsborough in the Championship. However, they have lost just one of their last eight league games on home soil. Their last five home games have produced two wins and three draws.

The home side have been prolific in recent home games in the league, scoring two or more goals in six of their last eight games on home soil.

Wolves have been the standout team in the Championship this season. The team from the Midlands have now recorded six wins in their last seven league games. A goalless draw at home against Sunderland last time out ended a six-game winning run for Nuno Espirito Santo’s team.

Wolves recent Championship games have been low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in five of their last seven games in the second tier.

The visitors have recorded four wins in their last five away games in the Championship. Santo’s team have also kept four clean sheets in their last five away games in the second tier.

The home side have endured mixed fortunes of late in the second tier. However, Wolves have been superb this season. Forebet predicts that the visitors will record another victory and move one step closer to promotion.
