Reigning French champions Monaco have endured mixed fortunes this season. On Friday night, the team from the principality will be looking to move up to second in the league as they visit Saint Etienne.

Saint Etienne have struggled for form this season in Ligue One and currently occupy 15th place. The home side’s recent struggles mean they are just two points above the relegation zone.

Les Verts have failed to win in their last eight Ligue One games, suffering five defeats in the process. Last time out Julien Sable’s team suffered a 3-0 hammering at in-form Marseille.

The home side have at least offered entertainment value in recent Ligue One outings, as there has been over 2.5 goals scored in five of their last six outings in the French top-flight.

Les Verts also have a poor recent home record in the French top-flight, winning just once in their last seven games, while failing to win in their last four outings.

Unlike last season, Monaco’s form this season has been inconsistent. Leonardo Jardim’s team currently sit third in the table, nine points behind big-spending rivals PSG in the race for the Ligue One title.

Consecutive wins against Angers and Troyes have at least given the reigning French champions something to build on heading into this clash.

Like their general form, the visitors form on the road in Ligue One has been mixed of late, as they have won two, lost three and drawn one of their last six away games in Ligue One. Unusually for Monaco of late, their last three away games have produced low scoring games, with under 2.5 goals scored in each match.

Monaco have not been great of late in Ligue One, but Saint Etienne are on a poor run. Forebet predicts that the champions will head home with maximum points.
