Leverkusen Aim to Extend Unbeaten Run

This weekend in the Bundesliga we have an exciting match to kick things off as Stuttgart welcome Bayer Leverkusen to the Mercedes Benz Arena.

The home team are looking for a win to distance themselves further from the relegation zone and set themselves up for a push into the top half after the winter break.

As for the visitors, Bayer Leverkusen are only 3 points off fourth place and the final Champions League qualifying position.  A win in this game would leave them in a great place to challenge for the top four this season.

Stuttgart start this match in 13th place in the Bundesliga and have 17 points from their fourteen games played.  This leaves them 5 points clear of Freiburg who currently occupy the relegation playoff position.

Trends show Stuttgart have won only one of their last four league matches, which was a 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga. The other three of those four games were away from home and Stuttgart lost at Hamburg and Werder Bremen but picked up a point against Hannover.

Stuttgart will be happy to return to the Mercedes Benz Arena for this game and have a great record at home.  Trends show they have won five of their last six home games and are unbeaten in their last fifteen home games in all competitions.

Bayer Leverkusen start this match in 9th place in the Bundesliga, 4 points clear of their opponents and thinking about moving into the European places with a win.

They are unbeaten in their last ten matches in all competitions and will be looking to extend that record by taking maximum points from this game.

While Bayer Leverkusen have been difficult to beat in the Bundesliga, they have drawn three of their last four games.  There have been draws at home against RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund plus away to Augsburg.

Trends show Bayer Leverkusen have drawn five of their last eight games in the Bundesliga and both teams have scored in nine of their last eleven away matches in all competitions.  The good news for Bayer Leverkusen fans is they have a great record against Stuttgart and have not lost to them in their last twelve Bundesliga meetings.

Team News and Stuttgart are still without several players due to injury including Mathias Zimmermann, Alexander Meyer, Daniel Ginczek, Dzenis Burnic and Carlos Mane.

Bayer Leverkusen travel without Vladlen Yurchenko and Charles Aranguiz who are both injured.  Brazilian Wendell is suspended for this game and this will mean a change in defence for the visitors.

Stuttgart have been excellent at home in recent games but they come up against a Bayer Leverkusen team who have become very tough to beat.  This should lead to a close game, with both teams scoring and taking a share of the spoils.
