Cruzeiro will be looking to enhance their position in the Brazilian Serie A table on Wednesday night, as they welcome struggling Avai to the Estadio Governador Magalhaes Pinto.

Cruzeiro’s recent form has hampered any late bid for the Serie A title, but they are still fifth place in the standings. The Belo Horizonte outfit will be looking to end their Serie A campaign on a high with just four games remaining.

Cruzeiro’s form of late has been mixed as previously mentioned, as the home side have lost three of their last six Serie A games. However, last time out in the Brazilian top-flight they recorded a 3-1 victory over Fluminense.

The win will have come as no surprise as Mano Menezes’ side have been strong on home soil of late in Serie A, suffering just one defeat in their last 15 outings on their own patch.

Their recent Serie A games on home soil have been high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in three of their last four games.

Avai are currently second from bottom in Serie A after a poor season in the Brazilian top-flight. The visitors are now four points from safety after three consecutive defeats against Coritiba, Bahia and Corinthians.

Their poor run of form has left the visitors four points from safety and desperately in need of a victory in this clash. However, a record of just one win in their last 11 Serie A outings does not suggest that an away win is on its way for the visitors.

Avai’s away record is not great, as they have won just one of their last five games on their travels in Serie A while losing three of their last four games. They have also failed to score in three of their last four Serie A games on their travels.

Unsurprisingly Forebet predicts that Cruzeiro will record a comfortable win in this clash and deepen the visitor’s relegation worries.
