On Wednesday night, English champions Chelsea host Everton at Stamford Bridge in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

The big news surrounding this game is that Everton sacked boss Ronald Koeman on Monday after a poor run of results. The Toffees had won just two of their last 13 games in all competitions under the Dutchman.

A 5-2 home defeat against Arsenal on Sunday was the last straw for the Everton hierarchy. The defeat was the Toffees third in their last four games in all competitions. Under-23 boss David Unsworth will be in charge of the team for this clash.

Everton games have at least been high scoring of late, with over 2.5 goals scored in eight of the last ten games involving the Toffees.

The Merseysiders away record has been poor of late, as they have won just one of their last 14 games on their travels in all competitions. That record looks unlikely to improve at Stamford Bridge, where they have already suffered a 2-0 defeat in the league.

Chelsea have been going through an unusually inconsistent period of late. Last time out, the Blues won 4-2 at home against Watford but were slightly fortunate with the Hornets missing some excellent opportunities.

The win did end a run of three games without a win in all competitions for Antonio Conte’s team. The Italian boss is likely to make changes to his starting line-up for this clash, with a number of fringe players set for run outs.

Chelsea’s home games have been high scoring of late, as there have been over 2.5 goals scored in three of their last four games on home soil in all competitions.

The home side have been inconsistent of late, but Everton have been very poor in recent weeks, so it unsurprising that Forebet predicts that Chelsea will record a win and progress to the next round of this competition.
