Everton have been busy strengthening their squad this summer. That new look team will kick-off their Premier League campaign on Saturday afternoon, as the Toffees welcome Stoke to Goodison Park.
Everton boss Ronald Koeman has brought in Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen, Sandro and Wayne Rooney this summer. The new signings were to negate the exit of star striker Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United for a club-record fee.
The team from Merseyside will be confident of pushing the top-six closer this season. However, the Toffees will need to improve on their end of season form from last season. In fact, Koeman’s side lost three of their last four Premier League games, although seventh-place had already been sealed very early on in the campaign.
One of the main positives for the Toffees last season was their formidable home record. Koeman’s side have won nine of their last ten games on home soil in the English top-flight. The only blip was a defeat by champions Chelsea, who virtually clinched the title on Merseyside.
The Toffees are favourites for this clash but will need to be aware of complacency, as the Potters have won on two of their last three visits to Goodison Park.
Stoke have endured a bit of a difficult summer losing star winger Marko Arnautovic. The Potters main signing is Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma on a season-long loan deal.
The visitors finished last season in poor form in the Premier League, as they won just two of their last 11 league games. However, Hughes’ side won their last game of the season 1-0 at Southampton.
The win on the south coast ended a seven-game winless run on their travels in the English top-flight, but a trip to Merseyside is a tough task for their opening game.
Forebet predicts that the ambitious home team will kick-off their Premier League campaign with a victory against the visitors from the Potteries.
