Arsenal have endured a mixed pre-season campaign. However, despite just two new signings in the shape of defender Sead Kolasinac and striker Alexandre Lacazette, there seems to be a quiet optimism around the north London club.

The Gunners kick-off the new Premier League campaign on Friday night when they host Leicester at the Emirates Stadium. The team from north London will expect to beat the travelling Foxes.

One startling fact that would suggest a home win is that Leicester have only managed to beat the north London outfit once in the last 33 meetings in all competitions. Incredibly, their last win on Arsenal soil came 44 years ago.

In fact, Leicester’s last victory over Arsenal in open play was 23 years ago. It is fair to say the Gunners have had the better of the recent competitive meetings. Arsenal have also won four of the last five encounters with the Foxes.

Arsene Wenger’s side finished last season in a strong manner, winning four of their last five league games. The Gunners form on home soil was also strong towards the end of the campaign, as they were unbeaten in six of their last seven games at the Emirates, recording six wins in that run.

Leicester enjoyed a rollercoaster ride of a campaign last season, fighting relegation for much of the season, yet thriving in the Champions League. The Foxes will be looking for Craig Shakespeare to restore a touch of stability this season.

The outlook for an away win is not great, though, as the visitors have recorded just two wins from 21 games on their travels in the English top-flight. In fact, the Foxes lost three of their last five away games in the Premier League last season.

Forebet predicts that the visitor’s poor away form will continue in this clash and the home side will make a winning start to their Premier League campaign.
