The Tricky Trees to get the better of the Lions

The Tricky Trees to get the better of the Lions

On Friday night, Nottingham Forest kick-off their Championship campaign by hosting newly promoted Millwall at the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest have been busy in the transfer market this summer, bringing in the likes of Kieran Dowell, Barrie McKay, Tendayi Darikwa, Andreas Bouchalakis, Jason Cummings and Daryl Murphy.

The team from the Midlands will hope that former Rangers boss Mark Warburton can bring a bit of stability to the team after his appointment towards the end of last season. Warburton is an experienced campaigner in the Championship from his days as Brentford boss.

The home side have enjoyed a strong pre-season, having recorded three wins and a draw from their four games in the summer. The Tricky Trees pre-season form has contrasted with their end of season results in the Championship, as they were inconsistent towards the end of the campaign in the second tier.

Millwall won promotion to the Championship via winning the League One play-offs, having spent two years in the third tier of English football. Boss Neil Harris is a club legend and the Lions will be hopeful of staying in the Championship this time around.

The Lions have not enjoyed a great pre-season, winning just one of their five games. However, that win came in their last outing in a 3-0 victory against Spanish side Granada.

Millwall suffered relegation from the Championship in season 2014/15, so understandably their recent record in the competition is poor. In fact, the Lions won just one of their last six games in the second tier in their last stint in the Championship.

However, a good finish to their League One campaign and pre-season will see the Lions head into this clash in good spirits.

Forebet predicts that the home side will get their Championship campaign off to a winning start and consign the visitors to defeat on their Championship return.
