Rossoneri to ease through to the Europa League play-offs
On Thursday night, big spending Italian giants AC Milan will be looking to progress past Romanian outfit CS U Craiova in the Europa League third qualifying round second leg.
The Rossoneri won the first leg of this tie 1-0 in Romania courtesy of a goal from Ricardo Rodriguez. With an away goal in their pocket, Milan will be confident of finishing the job at the San Siro. The home side are unbeaten in ten games in the Europa League, although four of those games have ended in draws.
Milan have lost just one of their last ten home games in the Europa League. They have also scored two or more goals in eight of their ten home games in Europe’s secondary competition.
However, their last home game in this competition came back in 2009, as the Rossoneri have more commonly competed in the Champions League. Vincenzo Montella’s side are one of the favourites to win the competition but need to avoid any complacency in this game to make it into the play-off round.
Craiova have now failed to win in their last three games, as they have drawn two games in their domestic league either side of the defeat against AC Milan. The first leg was their first ever venture into the Europa League and it looks set to be a short-lived stint in the competition for the Romanian side.
The visitor’s recent form has been poor, as they have won just one of their last six games in all competitions. Overturning the 1-0 deficit from the first leg will be a tough task, especially as their recent away record is not great.
