Derry City to win at Finns Harps

Derry City to win at Finns Harps

On Monday, Finn Harps host Derry City at Finn Park in the Irish Premier League, with the visitors looking to cut the gap on the top two in the Irish top-flight.

Derry’s form has dipped slightly in recent weeks and the team from Londonderry now find themselves 12 points behind second place Dundalk, and a massive 27 points behind runaway leaders Cork City.

In truth, the visitors seem more likely to be caught by the teams below them than to catch the two top teams in the league. Derry’s form has faltered in recent weeks, having previously gone on a run of 10 games unbeaten in the Irish top-flight.

In fact, Kenny Shiels side have lost three of their last five league games. However, he visitors did win their last outing in the top-flight, recording a 1-0 win at Bohemians.

Their recent away record is not great in the league, as they have failed to win in their last three games on their travels, suffering two defeats in the process.

Finn Harps are currently just two points clear of the relegation zone in eighth place in the table. However, the home side does have two games in hand on 10th place Galway United.

Ollie Horgan’s team have undergone a bit of a mini run of good form of late, recording wins in their last two league outings against Drogheda United and last time out Bohemians. The results will have lifted spirits at the club.

The home side will also look to the reverse fixture for inspiration, as they recorded a 2-0 win in Londonderry. Their recent home record is respectable, as the home side have now won three of their last four league games on home soil.

Despite Finn Harps winning their last two league games, Forebet predicts that Derry will emerge from this clash with maximum points.
