Flamengo to get back to winning ways against Palmeiras

In one of the highlights of the current round of games in Serie A, Flamengo host Palmeiras on Thursday as both sides look to move closer to league leaders Corinthians.
Flamengo are currently fourth in Serie A after a decent campaign so far in the Brazilian top-flight. In recent games, their form has dipped slightly, as they have failed to win their last two games in the league. However, the visitors will be difficult opponents, as they have lost just one of the last 11 meetings in all competitions with the hosts.
Last time out Flamengo drew 1-1 at Cruzeiro, which kept the home side in the top four of the league table. Ze Ricardo’s team had been on a three-game home winning run in Serie A until their last game on home soil when they suffered a 1-0 defeat against Gremio.
However, the defeat in that clash with Gremio was their only home defeat in their last 19 Serie A games. Flamengo’s recent home games in Serie A have been low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last ten games on home soil.
Palmeiras would leapfrog the home side and move into third place in the table with a victory in this clash. The visitor’s recent form has been mixed, as they have lost two of their last three games in Serie A. However, Cuca’s side got back to winning ways last time out with a 4-2 victory over Vitoria.
Palmeiras’ form on the road has not been great, as they have suffered five defeats in their last seven Serie A games, including suffering a 3-1 defeat at Cruzeiro in their last away game in Serie A.
This game promises to be a tight affair between two very evenly matched teams. However, Forebet predicts that the home side will come out on top in this potentially exciting clash.
