In form Corinthians to record another Serie A victory

Corinthians have started their Brazilian Serie A campaign in ominous form and could stretch their lead at the top of the table on Saturday as they host Ponte Preta at the Arena Corinthians.
Corinthians are currently top of the table and lead second place Gremio by seven points. The home side have made a blistering start to their league campaign, winning nine of their last ten league games.
A big part of that good recent run is the fact that the Timao have kept clean sheets in their last five league outings, including last time out in a 1-0 home win against Botafogo.
The league leader’s games have been low scoring of late, with under 1.5 goals scored in four of their last five games in Serie A.
Fabio Carille’s side have a stellar home record in Serie A, as they are unbeaten in 11 games, having won their last five games on home soil. They have also kept clean sheets in four of their last five home games in Serie A, so are a highly difficult team to breakdown.
Ponte Preta have enjoyed an inconsistent season so far and are currently 11th in the Serie A table. However, an unlikely win in this clash could see them surge up the table to the dizzy heights of fifth place.
The visitor's recent form does not suggest an away win is on the cards, though, as the Sao Paulo outfit have won just one of their last five games in the Brazilian top-flight.
Ponte Preta have also failed to win any of their last 18 away games in Serie A, so an away victory at the league leaders would be a major upset.
This game promises to be a low scoring encounter, with Forebet predicting that Corinthians will continue their fine form and pick up maximum points in this Sao Paulo derby.
