Manchester City defeated West Ham in the Premier League a week ago and are now two-games unbeaten. Will our score prediction forecast a Manchester City win in the FA Cup third round?

The Cityzens will welcome neighbours Salford City to the Etihad Stadium for the FA Cup third round on Saturday. This will be a David and Goliath match-up between a Premier League club and League Two side.

Salford City are co-owned by the Class of ‘92 (Butt, Scholes, Giggs, Beckham, and the Nevilles). The League Two club, who has had plenty of issues in recent seasons trying to get out of the fourth division, will aim to take a their biggest scalp ever.

The Ammies were Wrexham before Ryan Reynolds and company took over the Welsh club. There was a time that Salford were the phoenix club rising up the divisions, backrolled by big money owners.

Since reaching League Two, Salford City have stalled. However, this could be the Ammies’ year. Currently, third in League Two, Salford City are fighting for automatic promotion.

Salford City are on a six-game winning streak in the league. Their win streak will be put to the test on Saturday when Manchester City welcome them to the Etihad. The Ammies will face their most difficult task on the pitch.

Manchester City are coming off wins over Leicester City and West Ham. Despite the wins, some critics believe both games flattered the Cityzens and papered over the cracks.

Pep Guardiola’s team is up to sixth place in the Premier League. They are 12 points off Liverpool. Still, Manchester City could have a title fight left in them.

Manchester City last won the FA Cup in 2022-23. They defeated Manchester United 2-1 in the final. Last season, it was United who defeated City to lift the trophy, however. That game also featured a 2-1 score.

Erling Haaland has 21 goals in all competitions for Man City. Phil Foden is the team’s next-best scorer with five. Haaland will relish playing against a League Two defence, which he could bully.

Man City average the Premier League’s most shots per game, with 17.1. Haaland averages 4.0 of those shots per match.

Cole Stockton is Salford City’s main man in front of goal. The Englishman has eight goals to his name in all competitions. Matty Lund has added four goals.

Salford City have one of the best defences in League Two with 19 goals allowed in 24 games. Manchester City should test that Salford defence.

Our score prediction is for Manchester City to win 3-1. Their superiority should show early and often.
