Santos to come out on top against Vitoria

On Wednesday Vitoria host Santos at the Estadio Manoel Barradas, as the visitors look to continue their decent start to the campaign.
The home side are currently 16th in the Serie A table, only above the relegation zone on goal difference. They had made a poor start to their campaign in the Brazilian top-flight, but are now three games unbeaten in the league, having recorded two wins and a draw.
They have a poor recent home record in Serie A, losing three of their last five games on home soil and picking up just one victory. The home side have not been prolific in the Brazilian top-flight this season, scoring just eight goals in their eight games in the league.
The team from Salvador have lost five of their last six meetings with Santos in all competitions, so the recent history of the fixture is very much against the home side.
Santos are fourth in the Serie A table and will be looking to make up the seven-point gap on leaders Corinthians. The Sao Paulo outfit have recorded three wins and a draw in their last four Serie A games.
Last time out they drew 0-0 with Ponte Preta, which ended a three-game winning run in the top-flight. Levir Culpi’s side are not only unbeaten in four games in the Brazilian top-flight, they have also kept clean sheets in all four games.
Santos’ recent away record in Serie A is not great, as they have lost three of their last five away games in the league. However, they won 2-0 at Atletico PR in their last away game.
The visitor’s defensive record away from home in Serie A is not great, as they have conceded two or more goals in four of their last five league games on their travels.
