Dortmund have become a regular in the latter stages of the Champions League in recent years. BVB have been inconsistent this season, but are currently third in the Bundesliga table and face Werder Bremen on Saturday at the Signal Iduna Park.
All Thomas Tuchel’s side have to do on the last weekend of the German league campaign is defeat the visitors to confirm a place in the group stages of Europe’s competition for another year.
Although the home side look relatively comfortable in third, they are only ahead of fourth place Hoffenheim by virtue of superior goal difference. In fact, the difference between the two teams is just goals.
Hoffenheim host Augsburg in a very winnable game, while Werder could be tougher opposition for BVB. Dortmund seem unlikely to suffer any slip-ups against the visitors, though, as Tuchel’s side are unbeaten in 37 home matches in the Bundesliga.
The home side have won seven of their last eight games in the German top-flight and last time out at home defeated rivals for a Champions League spot Hoffenheim 2-1. BVB have been prolific this season in the Bundesliga and only champions Bayern Munich have scored more goals in the German top-flight.
Werder Bremen are currently eighth and are just three points off the top-six and a Europa League spot. However, the visitors would need to win and hope both Koln and Freiburg above them slip-up in their final games to claim a European spot for next season.
Werder head into this game on the back of two high-scoring defeats against Koln and Hoffenheim. The visitors have been prolific in front of goal in recent months, scoring two or more goals in their last nine Bundesliga outings.
Forebet predicts that Dortmund will secure a vital victory in this clash and this game could be a goal-fest considering the two team’s recent records in front of goal.
