On Saturday European champions Real Madrid host Valencia at the Santiago Bernabeu, as the home side look to stave off the challenge of Barcelona in the race for the Spanish title.

A win would move Zinedine Zidane’s team temporarily back to the top of the table, with Barcelona playing a derby match at city rivals Espanyol in the night-time kick-off.

Los Blancos followed up a Clasico defeat against their Catalan rivals by winning 6-2 at Deportivo La Coruna in midweek. The team from the capital have a formidable record in La Liga, having lost just three of their last 38 games.

Zidane’s team also have a very good home record in La Liga. The defeat against Barcelona in their last home game was their first home defeat in 22 outings on home soil in La Liga. The home side have also scored two or more goals in 13 of their last 14 home outings in the Spanish top-flight.

The omens are not good for an away win in this one, as Real are unbeaten in the last ten home meetings with the visitors. However, Los Ches did win the reverse fixture at the Mestalla earlier this season.

Recent encounters have been high-scoring between these two teams, as Valencia have scored two or more in their last seven meetings with Real Madrid in all competitions. Meanwhile, the home side have scored two or more in their last four meetings with Valencia at the Bernabeu.

Valencia are currently 12th in the Spanish top-flight table with very little to play for this season. Los Ches have failed to win in their last three La Liga games and have lost their last two games in the top-flight.

Real Madrid are in desperate need of a victory in this clash and Forebet predicts that Los Blancos will come out on top in this one.
